VOICE + PIANO

Although the majority of my output has been focused on instrumental music, I have, over the years, written a fair amount of vocal music as well, mostly sacred choral, but also including a few solos for voice and piano. Unfortunately, some of that music is unavailable due to copyright restrictions on the source poems. Here is what is available.

A Song Cycle for Medium Voice and Piano | Words by Sue Personett

14 short songs set to poetry on Rocky Mountain themes.
Here is the preface to the score:

"In the shadow of a mountain a world exists." The opening line of the title song sets the stage for the 14 short songs in this cycle. They provide varied glimpses of that mountain world--sometimes serious, sometimes whimsical--including such scenes as changing seasons and weather, flora and fauna, hiking and climbing, all set in the magnificent Rocky Mountains.

Mixed Duet and Piano | Music by Vincent S. Dussair | Words from Matt. 11:25-30

General-purpose church duet for soprano and tenor or high baritone: my arrangement of what was originally

arrangement can be sung by two-part choir and is also available in SATB, SAB, and SA choral voicings.

Five Songs from The Treasure of Cathay | Book and Lyrics by Nancy Grobe | Music by Richard E Brown

In addition to the song cycle and two church pieces listed above, I have added these 5 solos from my 1985 musical, The Treasure of Cathay. Based on the 1921 novella Messer Marco Polo, by the Irish-American author Donn Byrne, it is a mostly-fictionalized story about Marco Polo and his romance with the daughter of Kublai Khan.

A women's chorus from the same show is also available on the Secular Choral Music page.
