Written for 2nd or 3rd year saxophone students, this arrangement of one of Chopin's most popular compositions is transposed from the original E major to the more sax-friendly key of (written) F major (concert Ab for altos or concert Eb for tenors). Chopin himself is said to have considered this to be his loveliest melody. The entire duet can be played from the score without turning a page, so individual parts are not needed.

The Waltz in Ab, Op. 39, No. 15 is one of the best-known piano pieces by the great German Romantic composer Johannes Brahms (1833-1897). It is just one in a set of 16 short waltzes for piano that Brahms penned in1865, but it has long taken on a life of its own and eclipsed all of the others in popularity. The set was originally written for piano 4-hands, then arranged by Brahms for solo piano the same year.

George Gershwin's Preludes for Piano of 1926 is probably his best-known work for solo piano. Of the 3 preludes in this set, the second one is the most popular and most often heard. This arrangement for saxophone quartet is transposed down a semitone from the original C# minor/F# major to the more sax-friendly C minor/F major. It gives young sax players an opportunity to enjoy learning some classic Gershwin.
An optional 1st alto sax (grade 4 range) part is included to substitute for soprano sax.
